Ciolos forced to cut short visit to Romania



The European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dacian Ciolos will visit Romania between April 22 and 23, cutting short his official trip to Romania as the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull volcano is disturbing air traffic, the official visit being announced initially for April 21-25.
“Due to air traffic disruptions caused by the eruption of Eyjafjallajokullb volcano in Iceland, the schedule of the first official visit in Romania of the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dacian Ciolos (photo) suffered some modifications. The visit to Bucharest will be made during April 22 and 23 2010”, European commission said in a notification.

The European Commissioner will meet with the president of Romania, Traian Basescu, Prime Minister Emil Boc and with the minister of agriculture and rural development, Mihail Dumitru.

Thursday, April 22, 14:00, Dacian Ciolos will attend a joint press conference with the minister of agriculture and rural development organized at the Ministry.

Friday April 23, the European commissioner will deliver a speech at the opening of the seminar "Looking to the Future: Romania and the Europe 2020 Strategy".

The event is part of a consultation on the participation of Romania to the fulfillment of the objectives of this strategy: the transition to a sustainable social inclusion-oriented economic growth in EU.
