Midday Forex: Leu grows mildly against euro



The National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 4.1275 lei/euro, narrowly below Friday level, as other currencies in the region had a strong start but wiped out early gains in midday trade.
On Friday, the central bank set a reference rate of 4.1276 lei/euro.

The leu traded near 4.1280 units/euro level in the morning and at 13:15, a euro was 4.1282 lei.

In the region the Polish zloty opened higher against its European counterpart at 3.9284 units/euro, and fell afterward to 3.9055 and lost the morning gains. The Hungarian forint grew in the morning from 269.15 to 267.34 units/euro, but dropped in midday trade to 267.94 forints/euro.

For the U.S. dollar, the central bank set a reference rate of 3.1178 lei/dollar, up 0.66% from 3.0973 lei/dollar on Friday.
