Midday Forex: Leu edges down against euro



The National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 4.1756 lei/euro today, up 0.28% from Monday, as other currencies in the region fell against their European counterpart.
Yesterday, the central bank set a reference rate of 4.1641 lei/euro, getting a lift from the EU approval of a massive bailout plan for the euro zone.

The leu wavered between 4.1640 and 4.1770 units versus euro in the early trades but stabilized near 4.1740 units/euro at noon.

In the region, the Polish zloty traded between 4.01 and 4.0680 units/euro and stabilized at 4.04 at noon. The Hungarian forint followed a similar trend, and after moving between 273.30 and 276.80 units/euro, it rose to 275 forints/euro.

For the greenback, NBR set a reference rate of 3.2864 lei/dollar, up .87% to 3.1976 lei/dollar.
