Midday Forex: Leu stays weak against euro



The National Bank of Romania set a EUR/RON reference rate of 4.1814 lei/euro, up slightly from yesterday (0.07%) from yesterday, as all currencies in the region followed a steeper downtrend against their European counterpart.
Yesterday, the central bank set a reference rate of 4.1785 lei/euro.

The leu had a poor start in the morning, falling from 4.1880 to 4.1930 units against euro, but grew afterwards to 4.18 units/euro, and at 14:00 EET, a euro was traded for 4.1830 lei.

In the region, the Polish zloty dropped from 3.9470 units/euro to 4.0270, while the Hungarian forint declined from 272.70 units/euro to 277.80 units/euro.

For the U.S dollar, the National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of3.3633 lei/dollar, up 1.28% from 3.3209 lei/dollar yesterday.
