Lafarge CFO promoted to group VP



After four years of leading Lafarge Romania financial operations as CFO, Philippe Platon, will leave his post in the local subsidiary of the global cement manufacturer to take up the role of VP strategy, development and mergers & acquisitions, development projects in the group.
Platon will be succeeded by Paul Vu Huy Dat (photo), who served as chief financial officer at the cement company’s operations in Honduras for the past three years.

Prior to joining Lafarge Honduras, the new CFO Lafarge held various positions in controlling and audit department of Lafarge units in Asia. Paul Vu Huy Dat graduated from Institute d'Administration d'Entreprise and holds a degree in economics.

The France-based company entered the Romanian market in 1997 after it acquired the local state-run manufacturer, Romcim. In 2008, the company reported a turnover of €370 million and a net profit of €163.8 million. Lafarge Romania has been one of the most profitable companies in 2008.

Last year, the cement producer recorded 34% drop in turnover, and expects 0-5% increase in sales this year.
