Seitan: Public sector wages will be cut across the board
The Ministry of Labor, Mihai Seitan, said after the meeting with Government officials and trade unions, that the 25% wage cut measure will affect all public sector workers equally, and ruled out the possibility of a selective salary reduction.
“We are talking about an equal pay cut for all public sector employees, we cannot take into account a selective wage reduction. A smaller cut is also out of the question as well as a tax increase”, the minister said.
Seitan stressed that this measure must be put in place by June to meet budget deficit target. “We have agreed with the International Monetary Fund to put this plan in place in June, in order to meet the budget gap target”, the minister pointed out.
