Romtelecom: Worst is still ahead
Even if the financial crisis has been plaguing the economy for almost two years, unfortunately the worst is still ahead, said Ovidiu Ghiman, Head of Strategy & Development at Romtelecom, the largest fixed-line telecom company in Romania.
“The financial crisis is still affecting Romania, but we think that the worst is yet ahead. We expect more customers to cut back on these telecommunications services”, said Ghiman.
The carrier had 890,000 satellite television subscribers at the end of March, 830,000 internet subscribers, and 2.7 million fixed-line telephony subscribers.
Romtelecom reported revenues of €194.8 million in the first quarter 2010, same as a year earlier, while the operating profit dropped 20.2% to €59.3 million.
