Cosmos Mobile gains market share for Cosmotes prepaid services

Cosmos Mobile, GSM distributor of telecom carrier Cosmote, has increased its market share to 25% for Bonus Card Cosmote prepaid services, or 5% year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2010.
By the end of 2010, Cosmos Mobile aims at capturing a market share of 27% for prepaid services and attracting 55,000 monthly additions.

Cosmos Mobile network covers 7,500 retail points, more than half of the selling points eligible for prepaid products.

The company’s strategy for this year envisages an improvement in the penetration rate of products and an increase in the average revenue per user (ARPU). In 2010, Cosmos Mobile recorded an activation rate of 42% in the first month, versus 28% recorded a year earlier.

“In a market that reaches maturity, we have managed to boost out market share through the development of new selling points and through the use of sales tracking system for each selling point across the country”, said Michalis Kontos, chief executive of the company.

Cosmos Mobile distributes over 90,000 prepaid products to all telecom carriers, including Vodafone and Cosmote.

Last year, Cosmos recorded a €500,000 profit, and in 2010 Kontos expects profit to be much as last year.
