Transelectrica tightens purse strings



National electricity supplier Transelectrica said it would cut back on spending by 10% this year, reduce acquisitions and maintenance costs as well as investments.
“Initially, we had planned total expenditure of 2.8 billion lei. But now, we have to adapt to the market environment and make savings. The analysis is not complete, the budget blueprint following to be revised”, said the managing director of the company, Octavian Lohan.

Transelectrica is the Transportation and System Operator in Romania that manages, operates and handles the national power grid that comprises 78 electrical substations with a total capacity of 35,000 MVA and 9,028 km of power lines of 110/220 kV, 400 kV and 750 kV currently under the management of eight transportation branches.

The carrier has eight branches in Bucharest, Bacau, Constanta, Cluj, Craiova, Pitesti, Sibiu and Timisoara.

The company also has six units: OPCOM, Smart, ICEMENERG, Formenerg, ICE Service and Teletrans.
