Senate approves 395 mln loan from EIB for the construction of Universitate-Drumul Taberei metro line
The Senate approved Wednesday a draft on the €395 million credit facility from the European Investment Bank for the construction of a new metro line between Universitate – Drumul Taberei.
The project envisages the construction of 9-km metro section that connects Drumul Taberei to Universitate and Pantelimon with a total budget of €883 million. The state will pay €488 million of the total amount.
The loan from the European Investment Bank will be disbursed in eight tranches until December 2014. Metrorex will buy 21 trains to service the new metro line but also to replace 16 trains currently in service.
