Midday Forex: Leu drops slightly against euro



The National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 4.2274 lei/euro, 0.05% higher from Monday, as the leu was trading lower against its European counterpart in the inter-bank market, but recouped at noon.
On Monday, the central bank set a reference rate of 4.2254 lei/euro.

The national currency started on a wrong foot today, falling to 4.2380 units/euro in the morning. At noon it managed to recoup some of the early losses and increased to 4.2240 units/euro.

In the region, the Polish zloty grew from 4.06 to 4.0390 units against euro, but wiped out early gains at noon when it fell to 4.0620 zloty/euro. The Hungarian forint increased in the morning to 280 units versus euro to 278.60 but dropped afterwards to 280.40 units/euro.

Versus the U.S dollar, the National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 3.4432 lei/dollar, 0.99% above Monday rate of 3.4096 lei/dollar.
