Vinexport sees growth from exports to China



Vinexport Romania, one of the largest winemakers in the domestic market, predicts sales in China to top €1 million.
For the coming years, Vinexport aims at increasing share of wines priced at $3.75 in China, the biggest selling price of its wines in the Asian market.

In 2008, its first year of activity in the Chinese market, Vinexport sales in the region accounted for merely 2.8% of its sales.

“This is just the beginning. China is a large market, where the impact of recession has been limited. Estimates point to a market volume of 91,025 thousand liters – approximately 121.46 million bottles – at an average selling price of $3.12/bottle, according to Baharat Book Bureau market research company”, said Angela Mares, marketing director of Vinexport Romania.

Vinexport produces Gurban, Puterea Ursului, Putna, Centenar, Weisser wine brands, and exports all of these products in the Chinese market.

Vinexport aims at grabbing a market share of 1% of total bottled wine imports market of China. Therefore, the winemaker will continue its plans to invest in vinification equipment and to expand distribution.
