Midday Forex: Leu inches down versus euro
The National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 4.2471 lei/euro, up 0.23% from Friday, as the leu fell steadily in the interbank market.
Against the U.S. dollar, the leu fell to 3.3805.
On Friday, the reference rate increased by 0.21% to 4.2375 lei/euro.
The national currency dropped in the early interbank trades from 4.2340 to 4.2500 units/euro at mid day.
In the region, currencies followed the same path. The Polish zloty moved lower from 4.0708 to 4.0774 units/euro, while the Hungarian forint dropped from 279.47 units/euro to 279.80 units/euro.
