The currency exchange rate posted by National Bank of Romania indicate a slight depreciation of the leu against the US dollar, down to 3.3270 lei/dollar, from yesterday’s 3.3202.
“The market is pretty calm,” chief dealer with Banca Transilvania, Ioan Birle told NewsIn. The central bank’s decision to reduce the lending rate from 10.25% to 10% per year failed to influence significantly the exchange rate, but was a signal to put a halt on the hike of interests.
Romanian leu takes another leap forward
The benchmark exchange rate posted by BNR dropped for the third day in a row, down to 4.2872 lei/euro, from 4.2954 rate on Wednesday, amid a generally rising European market, where the emerging currencies remain on a bearish trend.
