As Maior noted, the risks’ plan in the attention of Romanian intelligence service in 2009 will include, first of all, the multiple effects of the global economic crisis in the macroeconomic, social and regional landscape.
Secondly, the director of the agency reminded on the risks arising from cross-border threats: the development of criminal networks and the need to remain focused on terrorists risks both at the national and euro-Atlantic level.
Maior drew the attention on the risk potential generated by the new strategic interests in the Black Sea region, as well as on energy security threat.
Furthermore, the agency aims at completing the establishment of the National Cyber-Intelligence Center this year.
SRI adds economic crisis to list of major threats in 2009
The multiple impacts of the global crisis, energy security and risks arising from the strategic interests in the Black Sea region are the major challenges that Romanian Intelligence Service will face this year, said the agency’s director George Maior.
