The National Bank of Romania had announced a benchmark exchange rate of 4.1977 lei per euro yesterday.
The leu increased slightly in the early trades, from 4.1925 to 4.1890 versus the euro, then went downward to a maximum exchange rate of 4.1990 lei per euro. At 1:30 p.m. banks bought the euro with 4.1950 lei and sold it for 4.20 lei.
In the region, the Hungarian forint initially climbed from 276.2 to 275.9 against the euro then cheapened to 278.4. The Polish zloty strengthened in the first transactions, then decreased from 4.4525 to 4.4775 units per euro.
Romanian leu drops against euro for the third successive session
Romania's national currency, the leu, appreciated slightly by 0.03 percent to a reference exchange rate of 4.1963 against the euro, after a early-session climb followed by a constant fall, on a market with narrow transaction volume, in tune with the region, NewsIn informs.
