NBR posted a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2239 lei per euro yesterday.
The euro was traded for 4.2135 lei at rising bell, but soon climbed to 4.22. At 1:10 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2119 lei and selling it for 4.2209 lei.
In the region, the Polish zloty hiked from 4.15 to 4.11 versus the European currency, while the Hungarian forint soared from 269 to 267.75 per euro.
For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate reached 2.9557 lei per dollar, from 2.9884 in the previous session.
Leu strengthens against euro
The benchmark exchange rate settled by the National Bank of Romania lowered 0.19 percent to 4.2158 lei per euro, on a calm market, but the national currency began to lose ground from the level recorded on opening, unlike the regional currencies, NewsIn informs.
