Leu goes up to two-week high versus euro

The benchmark exchange rate posted by the National Bank of Romania fell 0.20 percent to 4.2157 lei per euro, the lowest level since August 14, as the national currency strengthened in the early trades, following the regional trend, on investors' milder risk aversion, NewsIn informs.

NBR yesterday posted a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2240 lei per euro.

The euro dropped from 4.2260 to 4.2130 lei this morning and at 1:05 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2129 lei and selling it for 4.2219 lei.

In the region, the zloty climbed from 4.12 to 4.0750 versus the euro and then slipped to 4.09, while the forint advanced from 270.35 to 268.90 versus the European currency, but plummeted to 270.9 afterwards.

For the U.S. dollar, NBR's exchange rate plunged 0.91 percent to 2.9351 lei per dollar, from 2.9620 in the previous session.
