Orange Romania reports 1.31bn revenues for 2008

Orange Romania, one of the leaders on the telecom market and subsidiary of France Telecom, saw a 6.2 percent rise in revenues last year versus the end of 2007, to 1.31 billion euros, announced the company today, NewsIn informs.

The company reported a 10,335,000-client database at the end of last year, 6 percent up from prior-year period. The average annual revenue per user was of 119 euros.

The lion’s share of the growth was driven by the number of broadband clients, which hiked 65 percent, to 1,673,000.

Internet subscriptions advanced by nearly 150 percent, while packages including mobile internet access and laptops reported increases of 400 percent in December. Users in over 500 cities now have mobile internet access with speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps.

Orange plans to enlarge its geographical coverage for data services and to increase access speeds. Thus, by the end of the year, all county capitals will be have access to mobile internet with speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps.
