Distrigaz Sud Reţele, a company set up in March 2008 after the separation of the distribution and trade activities, will keep its name and remain a unit of GDF SUEZ Energy Romania.

GDF SUEZ Energy Romania will cut investments by 25 percent to 228 million lei in 2009 and is looking into the possibility of reducing staff in an attempt to slash costs, declared the company's general manager Yvonnick David in an interview for NewsIn at the beginning of May.

Distrigaz Sud was rebranded as GDF SUEZ Energy Romania at the end of April. It currently counts 6,100 employees.

Distrigaz Sud was acquired by the French group Gaz de France on May 31, 2005. GDF SUEZ Energy Romania currently belongs to French-Belgian group GDF SUEZ, after the two groups merged in July last year. GDF Suez owns 51 percent of GDF SUEZ Energy Romania.

GDF SUEZ Energy Romania has stakes in gas companies Congaz, Tulcea Gaz, Wiron Gaz, Vital Gaz and S.C. Distrigaz Sud Retele SRL.
