BNR posted a benchmark exchange rate of 4.1817 lei per euro yesterday.

The exchange rate hiked almost constantly in the first part of the day, from 4.1760 to 4.1940 lei per euro, then started to go down a little before 1 p.m. At 1:30 p.m. banks bought the euro with 4.1850 lei and sold it for 4.1928 lei.

In the region, the Polish zloty had a similar evolution and fell from 4.4490 to 4.4938 versus the euro, then went back up to 4.48. The Hungarian forint lost ground from 278 to 282.5 units per euro then shifted after noon to 281.

The benchmark exchange rate also increased 2.9669 lei per dollar, above yesterday's value of 2.9377, the lowest level of the year.
