Deloitte puts Romanian key members in the regional management

Alexandru Reff joined Deloitte as a fresh graduate in 1998, straight after finishing his law degree at the University of Bucharest. He contributed to the fast growth of the tax and legal practice in Bucharest, by assisting hundreds of international and local clients in relation to investment, acquisition, restructuring and disposal projects.

His mixed background (tax and legal) and international experience (including a one-year secondment to Deloitte Paris) help him play a leading role in multi-disciplinary and cross-border projects.

Under his leadership, Reff & Associates registered for the last 12-month period a 25% increase in revenues and a 40% increase in volume of deals assisted, amounting to almost 700 million euros in 2008. One of the major recent deals he has been working on was the Romtrans sale to DB Schenker, where his team provided legal assistance on the sell side.

Alexandru Reff has also contributed to several legislation drafting processes (including Companies Law, Tax Code and Fiscal Procedure Code), wrote a number of articles in the business media and was a speaker at several major business events. He graduated from the University Of Bucharest School Of Law, received the first prize at the final Bar certification exam in 2000 and is fluent in Romanian (native), English and French. With his earlier experience in tax and his recent focus on legal, Alex is well positioned to lead a practice which will offer a fairly unique level of tax and legal integration.

Andrei Burz-Pinzaru has been working for Deloitte for over seven years, generating a significant contribution to the Firm’s performance in banking, M&A and capital markets. While a Senior Manager with Reff & Associates, he was also appointed leader of Deloitte’s team for banking and finance law, and head of the Deloitte Tax & Legal Financial Services Industry Group in Romania.

Andrei Burz-Pinzaru previously worked in Ernst & Young and its affiliated law firm for two years and for other three years in a securities firm. His experience in the Financial Services sector has enabled him to secure many new business opportunities. Among his most recent achievements stands the 140-million Euro Romstrade financing deal, as his team provided the Romanian infrastructure company with legal assistance in negotiating and successfully closing the contract with Credit Suisse. He also contributed to the drafting of the mortgage lending law and the securities regulations for securitization and mortgage bonds.
