For this year, Laura Samson country director of Mio in Romania had expected the market share to be the same as last year in Romania, of 45%, and around 35,000 GPS devices sold.

According to GfK, the GPS maker had a market share of 50% in the first half this year.

“50% share of local GPS market and the leading position in the navigation systems segment reflect the company’s efforts in meeting users’ needs constantly. These results mean more to us as they were achieved under difficult economic conditions,” said Samson.

According to GfK’s recent report, Mio Technology had a market share of 23% in Central and Eastern Europe in the first half this year, keeping its leading position.
