The benchmark exchange rate set by the National Bank of Romania has broken out of its downtrend and inched 0.13 percent to 4.2673 lei per euro, on a calm market, the national currency bracing for the improving sentiment generally supporting the European currency in the region, NewsIn informs.
NBR posted yesterday an exchange rate of 4.2619 lei per euro.
The euro was traded for 4.2650 lei this morning and then slipped to 4.2560. At 1:10 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2624 lei and selling it for 4.2714 lei.
In the region, the Polish zloty depreciated gradually from 4.1780 to 4.20 versus the euro, while Hungary's forint eased from 266.5 to 268 per euro, but strengthened to 267.5 afterwards.
For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s official exchange rate added 0.28 percent to 2.9001 lei per dollar, from 2.8921 in the previous session.
