Romtelecom and Ericsson signed a five-year partnership to outsource the network management and field operations and transfer 400 workers to the wireless phone network maker, in a bid to boost efficiency and save costs.
“Romtelecom and Ericsson announce the conclusion of a five-year managed services agreement which also includes outsourcing of field operations. As a result, Romtelecom will transfer 400 staff to Ericsson as of January 11, 2010. Ericsson will be responsible for corrective and preventive field maintenance of switching and power feeding systems”, the two companies said on Wednesday.
“We went through a long process before reaching this final stage, by analyzing every aspect of this agreement: from securing an easy transfer of our employees, a continuance in terms of jobs while keeping Romtelecom’s offers at the best quality. We have examined the processes, methods and tools of our partner in administration services, as well as the social aspects arising from this agreement”, said Yorgos Ioannidis, CEO of Romtelecom.
Maurizio de Dominicis, Ericsson country manager Romania said the “contract marks the first managed services deal for Ericsson in Romania”.
