Employees, most of them women, were served on Tuesday the termination notice for the employment contract, following that after the 20 days notice, they will receive nine compensatory pay packages on their cards. This means that every downsized worker will receive around 100 million old lei.
Vice-leader of Automobile Dacia’s trade union (SAD), Ion Iordache said the redundancy dismissal is illegal and he will do anything in his power to help the dismissed employees.
“SAD has already prepared the documents to file a lawsuit. The “termination” undertaken by the company is abusive and said the layoffs were necessary because of activity reduction. We will do anything it is necessary to help them into finding new jobs and I hope we will win the lawsuit”, said Ion Iordache.
The union officers said that for the moment, there is no problem of downsizes at Dacia plant. Dacia Plant suspended production activity for the first time in October 30 and 31, in an effort to reset the fabrication programs to meet the commercial demand. Activity of Dacia plant will by halted in November 13 and 14, and in November 20 and 21, 2008.
