The official exchange rate set by the National Bank of Romania dropped to 4.2670 lei per euro, after stable evolution in the early trades, correlated to the upward trend of emerging currencies, NewsIn informs.
NBR reported an exchange rate of 4.2782 lei per euro in the previous session.
In the morning, banks were buying the euro with 4.2675 lei, but the exchange rate climbed to 4.28 lei per euro after the first transactions. The leu then recouped at noon and idling at 4.2650 versus the euro. At 1:15 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2617 lei and selling it for 4.2707 lei.
In the region, the forint cheapened from 266.85 to 268 versus the euro and then inched to 267.25, while the zloty decreased from 4.2050 to 4.2260 per euro and stabilized to 4.2130 in mid-session.
For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate dipped 0.77 percent to 2.9187 lei per dollar, from 2.9414 at the end of last week.
