Voluntary private pension funds showed average return of 12.9% for the nine months of 2009, and 13.18% for the last 12 months.
Since the launch to date, the combined annual average return of voluntary private pension funds is 7.62%. Pension funds’ performance has exceeded inflation rate in the period under review by wide margin.
Voluntary pension funds reported a combined number of participants of 179,000 and net assets under custody of 172.6million lei.
Private pension funds (pillar II) reported 4.84 million participants at the end of September 2009. For 4.46 million participants it has been transferred at least a contribution to their personal private pension account.

Net assets under custody reached 1.996 bln lei, after 17 rounds of contribution payment worth 1.827bln.
The difference between gross contributions and net assets is given by the Pillar II funds’ net profit to date for their participants, namely 169 million lei.
