Ernst & Young said it had appointed three new partners within its assurance practice, David O’Connor, Andreas Hadjidamianou, and Christiana Panayidou.
David O’Connor (photo) has 25 years of professional experience, serving clients in the financial sector in London, Moscow and Warsaw. He has been an engagement partner for multinational banks operating in Russia and Poland, large state controlled and privately owned banks and financial institutions, hedge funds specializing in distressed assets, as well as World Bank, EU and USAID assignments.

David has extensive experience in banking, consumer finance, asset management and leasing sectors. He was a speaker at international and domestic conferences on financial markets and, lectured on risk management techniques within a trading environment, as well as accounting and risk control of financial instruments. He is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales FCA.

Andreas Hadjidamianou has 13 years of experience in financial audit. As an executive in charge of the audit teams, he has participated in the financial statements auditing of companies listed in the Athens and London Stock Exchanges, with emphasis in oil and gas, cement and shipping industries. Andreas was also involved in IPOs for admission of companies to the Athens, London and New York Stock Exchanges.

He has participated in numerous conversion projects of financial statements from local standards to IFRS for large groups of companies and has wide experience in special transaction projects for mergers and acquisitions. Andreas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from the University of Manchester and he is a Chartered Accountant certified by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus.

Christiana Panayidou (photo) has 13 years of professional experience. As executive, she was in charge of audit teams serving large multinational corporations in the utilities, telecommunications, and manufacturing industries.

She is a member of Ernst & Young’s EMEIA IFRS Desk and the Technical Partners Group in EMEIA, dealing with a number of IFRS technical issues, and has served as an advisor on a number of IFRS conversion projects.

The new partner of Erns&Young has acted as an instructor on IFRS seminars and as a speaker on IFRS Breakfast Briefings to companies listed on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE). Christiana holds a BSc in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick and is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
