The leu hovered near 4.105 units/euro in quiet trade today, but fell to 4.11 units against euro at closing, in line with its peers in the region.
The National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 4.1071 lei/euro, down 0.17% from yesterday’s 4.1142 lei/euro.
The leu opened higher today, reaching 4.107 units against its European counterpart, and traded within a narrow band afterwards near 4.105 units/euro. However at noon, the national currency wiped out early gains and dropped to 4.11.
In the region, the Polish zloty grew from 4.05 to 4.02units/euro, but fell to 4.037 afterwards. The Hungarian forint traded mixed today, and closed down to 272 forint/euro.
For the US dollar, the reference rate set by the National Bank of Romania is 2.9849 lei/dollar, up 0.11% from yesterday’s rate of 2.9817.
