“Croatia and Romania will become new H&M countries with openings in Zagreb and Bucharest during the spring of 2011”, the clothing company said in its six-month financial report.

Real estate consultant Krammer & Wagner, that handled the lease of retail park Militari Shopping Center, said in March that H&M (Hennes&Mauritz) was in negotiations for the lease of retail spaces in Bucharest, and may be moving into the Romanian market as soon as next year or in 2012.

H&M has around 2,000 stores in 36 different countries and employs over 74,000 people. The company’s main market is Germany, followed by UK and Sweden.

During the second half-year, the group said it plans to open 180 stores and close 14. Most of the stores are planned for Germany, USA, UK, France, China and Italy.
