The Ministry of Environment said it would relinquish the 3-fold raise of the pollution tax, following to be lowered through a new emergency ordinance, while those who paid the tripled tax, will be refunded, said the minister of environment, Nicolae Nemirschi.
“The new element is the notification we have sent to the European Commission on the enforcement of ordinance 218 (regarding the 3-fold raise of pollution tax for second-hand cars), and therefore, apart from the notices that the ordinance should enclose, a notice from the European Commission is mandatory, and in the coming period, Thursday – Friday, we will do these diligences”, said Nemirschi.
The ministry of environment will select one of the three variants for the pollution tax, following to submit at Brussels only the variant it considers “proper” to receive the authorization for the pollution tax.
Nemirschi added that the tax for Euro 4 cars would be eliminated, and the calculation method would surely be lower than the current “tripled tax”.
He said the tax would be subject to the same principles, therefore the appendixes would remain intact, only that the coefficients would be reduced.
