Low-fare airline Germanwings said its traffic results for July fell 7.8% below year-ago levels, with a total of 724,481 passengers carried worldwide.
In July 2008, the company carried 785,614 passengers.
The load factor fell 1.6 percent in July 2009, to 84.7% from 86.3%.
“Germanwings responded promptly to the global crisis in the aviation industry, by reducing the capacity of its aircrafts”, the company said.
Germanwings operates flights from Bucharest to Berlin, Cologne and Stuttgart.
In Romania, Germanwings carried around 5,000 passengers, 66% more than prior-year half.
The airline operates low-cost flights to over 50 European destinations, from 5 German-based airports, Cologne/Bonn, Stuttgart, Berlin Schönefeld, Hamburg and Dortmund. Germanwings has a new fleet with 25 new Airbus A319.
