The senator from the Liberal-Democratic Party, one of the initiators, said the new policy will make the power distribution companies more responsible in their relations with the customers. “I was talking to Mr. Lificiu (e.n: chairman of ANRE), and he was telling me how good it is in Germany where fines that are levied to electricity and natural gas suppliers make them treat the end consumer as an economic agent or as a household with a greater responsibility. Apart from that, the preliminary conclusions of the investigation commission show we are misled by these multinational giants”, said Urban.

The PDL senator called for a sharp raise in fines, saying it “won’t bother anyone to be finally treated fairly in Romania by these investors and with the respect we deserve under greater penalty rules. (…) It is not enough to be told we just have to accept a power failure, because we are a country of thieves and because we steal electricity”, said Urban.
