Companies with up to EUR 12,000 business in Romania to pay poll tax of 500 euros

Romania's Finance Ministry (MFP) set a new poll tax grid for companies which stipulates that firms reporting a turnover up to 12,000 euros will pay an annual tax of 500 euros, declared the vicepresident of the national council of private SMEs in Romania (CNIPMMR), Florian Parvu, cited by NewsIn.

Companies that register an annual business between 12,000 euros and 50,000 euros will pay a tax of 1,000 euros. Moreover, firms that end the year with a turnover between 50,000 euros and 100,000 euros will be taxed with 1,500 euros for the respective year.

Entrepreneurs reporting business between 100,000 euros and 1 million euros will pay 2,000 euros and those registering turnover between 1 million euros and 5 million euros will pay a tax of 2,500 euros. The levy amounts to 5,000 euros for a business between 5 million euros and 30 million euros and 10,000 euros for a turnover that exceeds 30 million euros.

Representatives of employers in Romania asked the Finance Ministry to exempt companies with annual turnover below 15,000 euros of paying the poll tax.

The poll tax will be applied to micro companies and to companies operating mainly in services, trade except vehicles and motorcycles and in the food industry.
