The national currency traded in a narrow range in the morning moving slightly higher against its European counterpart, from 4.1380 to 4.1280 lei/euro, in line with its peers in the region, such as the zloty and forint.
The National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 4.1298 lei against euro, 0.07% below yesterday level of 4.1325 lei/euro. In the morning, the leu moved from 4.1380 to 4.1280 , and at 13:30 EET, the euro was sold for 4.1340 lei.
In the region, the euro lost ground against a basket of currencies. The Polish zloty grew from 4.1150 to 4.07 units/euro and then hovered near that level. The Hungarian forint rose from 273.80 to 272 against euro, and then held steady above this level.
For the US dollar, the National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 3.0108 lei/dollar, down 0.17% from Monday’s rate of 3.0160 lei/US dollar.
