GarantiBank Romania is in talks to secure a €10 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to on-lend to small and medium enterprises.
The agreement between EBRD and GarantiBank Romania could be signed within 2-3 months.
“The loan from EBRD would boost the availability of finance to small businesses in Romania, but we will have more details on the loan agreement when negotiations end and the agreement is signed”, said Murat Atay (photo), chief executive of GarantiBank Romania.
At the end of 2009, GarantiBank Romania had €550 million loans and €310 million savings under management.
The bank plans to boost its loan book by 40% this year to €770 million.
