Hostway will provide eMag with its advanced server line Intel Nehalem, data center, storage, climate control and uninterrupted power supplies for protection against power failures and interruptions. The connection to the Internet Backbone will be established through multiple secondary connections to 15 internet providers across the country.

“We sincerely wish to provide eMag with our most reliable and state-of-the-art hosting service in Romania. It’s a business focused on online retailing, and any hosting failure would trigger major loss for our client,” said Flaviu Radulescu (photo), chief executive Hostway Romania, the company that reported sales of €920,000 in 2009 from around €860,000 in 2008.

Some of Hostway’s biggest customers are BRD, Trilulilu, GSP TV, Cancan, Realitatea-Catavencu and National Geographic Romania.

The Romanian online retail market is estimated at around €350 million in 2010 and eMag’s main competitors are PCfun, Cel.ro, and MarketOnline.
