The stocks at the BSE turned higher in late trading today, closing 1% higher, while financial investment companies (BSE:SIF) outperformed the market with a 1.45% gain, notwithstanding the bearish performance of the European markets.
In Wednesday’s trading, the liquidity at the Bucharest Stock Exchange stood at 16.51 million lei (€4 million) from Tuesday’s level of 19.54 million lei (€4.74 million). However, transactions with fixed-income instruments totaled 104.11 million lei (€25.28 million).
BET index that gauges the performance of the ten most actively traded stocks at BSE finished up 0.96% to 4,955.13 points, while composite BET-C climbed 0.98% to 2,905.68 points.
BET-FI index of the five financial investment companies gained 1.45% to 26,717.06 points, while Vienna’s ROTX edged up 0.80% to 10,248.79 points.
BET-XT index of the 25 most traded stocks grew 1.10% to 496.84 points, while BET-NG of the ten energy companies at BSE jumped 1.03% to 640.72 points.
European stock markets were posting sharp declines at BSE’s closing. At the London Stock Exchange, FTSE index of the leading 100 companies was shedding 0.97% to 5,225 points, while Germany’s DAX was falling 0.59% to 5,635 points. France’s CAC40 was dropping 1.09% to 3,766 points.
FIC Oltenia shares (BSE:SIF5) have been the most traded stocks at BSE today, with 5.8 million lei trades, while stock prices rose 1.38% to 1,47lei. FIC Moldova (BSE:SIF2) climbed 0.80% to 1.26 lei.
In the banking sector, Banca Transilvania (BSE: TLV) gained 0.49% to 2.04 lei. BRD SocGen (BSE: BRD) rose 0.70% to 14.30 lei.
