Leu ups slightly against euro at midday

The benchmark exchange rate settled by the National Bank of Romania lowered 0.23 percent to 4.2088 lei per euro, on a market dominated by apathy, with few transactions, as the regional currencies showed a slight downtrend over the European currency, NewsIn informs.

NBR posted a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2186 lei per euro in the previous session.

The leu climbed to below 4.21 per euro in the first part of the session and at 1:35 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2050 lei and selling it for 4.2150 lei.

In the region, the Polish zloty plummeted from 4.0750 to 4.1175 over the euro and the Hungarian forint slipped from 267 to 269 versus the euro.

For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate added 0.99 percent to 2.9665 lei per dollar, from 2.9374 in the previous session.
