Nacu, Entreprise Investors: PE investment remains an important funding source

Private equity funds are still an important funding source in the beleaguered entrepreneurial marketplace. However, investors remain very prudent when putting their money in a troubled company, said Cristian Nacu, partner at Enterprise Investors, at the “Winning Solutions to Crisis” conferences, organized Ziarul Financiar.

Enterprise Investors holds six private equity funds and one venture capital fund established in September 2008.

“There are many companies in Romania and south-east Europe in need of funding from venture capital sources”, said Nacu, stressing that he hoped a new venture capital deal would be closed soon.

The representative of Enterprise Investors said he expected the number private equity deals to drop, abnd cited the gap between perceived value and current value on the part of the sellers of distressed companies.

Multiples in company valuation will be significantly lower compared to a year earlier, due to asset devaluation and the lack of visibility as to how companies are going to fare, Cristian Nacu continued.

In the second half of November, the private equity company has committed €66 million to 100% of the 65-outlet Profi retail chain.
