Currency exchange rate posted on Thursday by the central bank stood at 4.2778 lei/euro, the lowest since 4.2776 in October 9. Yesterday, the leu traded near 4.2811 versus its European peer.

The local currency increased mildly in the morning, from 4.28 to 4.2750 and traded in a narrow range. The leu lost steam in the afternoon, and fell to 4.2809/euro. At 15:05 the banks were buying a euro for 4.2770lei and selling it for 4.2820 lei.

In the region, the polish zloty fell from 4.11 to 4.1470 versus euro, and edged up to 4.14/euro. The forint traded today within 266.70 – 267.70/euro range, and followed a mild upward trend afterwards.

Against the US dollar, the National Bank of Romania posted an official rate of 2.8749, up 0.35% from Wednesday’s 2.8650lei/US dollar.
