Yesterday, the National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 4.0964 lei/euro.

“The leu dropped markedly today, but it seemed to have been a regional trend. Anyway, the cut in the monetary policy rate made leu placements less attractive”, a dealer told NewsIn.

In the morning, the leu was trading near 4.1040 units/euro, and fell steadily against euro to 4.13 units/euro. At 13:55 EET EUR/RON stood at 4.1280.

In the region, the euro grew against a basked of currencies today. The Polish zloty opened at 4 units/euro and dropped to 4.04. At 11:00, the euro was traded for 4.0280 zloty. The Hungarian forint declined from 271.40 to 273.20.

For the US dollar, the National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 2.9749 lei/dollar, up 1.68% from Wednesday’s rate of 2.9257 lei/dollar.
