Visa Europe and its affiliated banks in Romania are proposing a new round of initiatives to combat the underground economy, through electronic payment systems, reads a press release remitted by Visa.
Another measure is to improve and ensure that all merchants comply with their obligations under the law 250/2003, which provides that all retailers with a turnover higher than 100,000 euros should accept electronic payments. Visa and its affiliated banks propose this level to be lifted to 300,000 lei.
Visa proposes the reduction of added value tax for electronic payments for a predetermined period (1-2 years).
“If it is implemented on a selective basis in the areas where it is recorded significantly lower number of transactions, can stimulate consumption and economic growth, following the example of Columbia, Argentina or South Korea”, reads the press release remitted by Visa.
