Analysts see May inflation at 0.1%

Members of the Financial-Banking Analysts Association (AAFBR) said the May monthly inflation rate was 0.1% and that annual inflation rate would slow down to 4% by the end of the year.
According a poll of analysts carried by the association, the May monthly inflation rate was probably 0.1% (estimates range between 0.1% and 0.3%), while annual inflation rate was 4.4% (estimates vary between 4.4% and 4.6%).

Around 70% of the surveyed pointed to a monthly inflation rate of 0.1% in May.

For end 2010, AAFBR members that took part in the survey indicated an annual inflation rate of 4% (estimates range between 3.7% and 4.7%).

In April, consumer prices rose 0.35% from March, or 4.28% from April 2009.

A the end of last year, annual inflation rate stood at 4.74%, above the National Bank of Romania’s target range of 3.5% with +/- 1% tolerance band.

For end 2010, NBR targets an inflation rate of 3.5% with +/- 1% tolerance band, and expects inflation rate to come in at 3.7%.
