With a wealth estimated at 1.9-2 billion euros and business in IT, media, energy, services and real estate fields, Dinu Patriciu ranks first in the top Adevarul 500 billionaires.
Dinu Patriciu holds 25% of Rompetrol, stake evaluated at 450-550 million euros. He is also the owner of EuroJet, an airline company that provides business jet charter flight services in over 90 destinations in 34 countries, according to information made public in Top Adevarul 500 billionaires.

Patriciu holds real estate projects worth approximately 500 million euros, in stakes of 25% up to 100%. Another project is Adevarul media trust, in which businessman invested 35 million euros. He invested 700 million euros so far, that returns annual 15% output.

Moreover, Romanian businessman holds another business in IT field evaluated at 70 million euros, two in Holland in alternative energy field and personal possessions worth 110 million euros – a dwelling in Snagov, a mansion in Saint Martin, an apartment in Paris, two yachts and a personal jet.

“I find myself in a very embarrassing position. This top has nothing to do with me, except the fact I am in it. To me, personally, the interesting part is the wealth evaluation. I will pay extra attention when I will read the chapter,” Dinu Patriciu stated at the event occasioned by the Top’s launching.

Top 500 billionaires is completed by Ion Tiriac, businessman that ranks second in Top Adevarul 500 richest Romanians, with a wealth evaluated at 950 million -1 billion euros. Winner of 1970’s edition of tennis tournament Rolland Garros together with Ilie Nastase holds business in insurance, real estate, sports, auto, and banking.

According to Top Adevarul 500 richest Romanians, Tiriac was the first Romanian in Forbes’ top billionaires released in 2007. Tiriac Holdings posted last year 1.6 billion euros turnover. Although biggest incomes - 900 million euros – were geared in 2007 by the car division, the company will focus on real estate.

Therefore, Tiriac aims at holding 1 million square meters land built on. The businessman invested 300 million euros so far, according to data included in the top. Some of the real estate projects in construction are “Residenz” and “Stejarii”. The company plans on completing construction of a mall in Timisoara, completion of a similar project in Brasov, and to start the construction of an industrial and logistic park in Otopeni.

Second position is occupied by Zoltan Teszari, owner of RDS&RCS, one of the biggest cable television providers in Europe. Teszari has a wealth estimated at 900 million euros and business in IT, energy, real estate and services. The company he runs posted in 2007 a 346.5 million euros turnover, raising RDS&RCS value at nearly 2 billion euros, according to Adevarul Top 500 billionaires.

Marius and Emil Cristescu brothers, owners of Bega group rank fourth position in top richest Romanian billionaires, with a wealth estimated at 850 million euros.

Bega Group includes 29 independent companies in chemical industry, oil drilling, car industry, extracting industry, auto and railway transport, commerce, hotel and tourism services, civil and industrial construction, advisory. Biggest companies are Foraj Sondaje, Chimforex, Bega Imobiliare, Faur, Bega Electromotor, and Bega Ermat.

Owner of Realitatea Catavencu media group, Sorin Ovidiu Vantu ranks fifth in Adevarul top richest Romanians with a wealth estimated at 800 and 850 million euros.

One of the biggest deals closed in 2007 by Romanian businessman was the sale of Petromservice to OMV for 328 million euros. Moreover, this year SOV launched an innovating promotion system – Monopoly, that consists in installing in all subway stations in Bucharest over 600 flat monitors. Thus, passengers will be able to watch news, ad spots, entertainment programs and useful information.

After the death of Constantin Dragan, his wife, Veronica Dragan took over the helm of family business worth 800 million euros, ranking sixth in Top Adevarul 500 richest Romanians.

Top of richest Romanians includes the owner of football club Steaua Bucharest, George Becali. With a wealth evaluated at 700-750, Becali ranks seventh in Top Adevarul 500 richest Romanians.
The businessman holds 26% stake in Steaua football club, the palace on Alexandru road no 1, Bucharest, and several real estates. Becali is shareholder at weaponry company Uzina Mecanica Dragasani SA, Avicola Iasi, Arco, and Arcom holding.

Bobby and Rasvan Paunescu brothers rank eight in top richest Romanians with a total fortune of 700 million euros, and business in real estate, media, shipping and tourism. The company plans on developing the alternative energy division, construction of 9,000 apartments, 450,000 sqm office space, and 500,000 sqm industrial spaces.

Ovidiu Tender ranks ninth, with business in construction, pharmaceutical industry, hotel market, commercial aviation, at a combined value of 650-700 million euros.

Voiculescu family ranks tenth, closing Top 10 wealthiest businessmen with a fortune estimated at 650 million euros. Voiculescu holds Intact media group and industrial Grivco, estimated at 400 million euros.
