Energy cooperation between Romania and Azerbaijan

The official visit of Romanian minister of economy, Adriean Videanu to Azerbaijan, included talks with the president of the republic E.S. Ilham Aliyev focused on a possible cooperation between state-owned SOCAR and Romanian Terminal, Conpet, Oltchim and Romgaz, the ministry announced.
The minister Adriean Videanu is paying an official three-day visit to Republic of Azerbaijan where he met the president E.S. Ilham Aliyev.

“The talks included strategic energy issues, addressing both energy security in the Black Sea region and Nabucco-related aspects”.

The cooperation between Azerbaijan’s SOCAR and Romanian companies Romgaz, Oil Terminal, Conpet and Oltchim was on the agenda of the two officials. In this context, it was decided the creation of a mixed commission comprised of technicians due to start next week the identification of cooperation opportunities in short-term applicability projects”, reads the press release.

The mixed Romanian – Azerbaijani commission signed today the cooperation protocol.

Adriean Videanu said Wednesday night that the national natural gas supplier Romgaz will cooperate with SOCAR (The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic), the Azerbaijan’s oil and natural gas company for joint exploration in Azerbaijan.
