Parliament passes wage cut bill

The reexamination of certain provisions of the law regarding measures aimed at restoring the balance in public finances, following the Constitutional Court ruling, has been passed by the Parliament with 321 votes to 2.

The law also provides the reduction in public wages by 25%, a measure deemed constitutional.

The review of certain provisions contained in the law regarding measures in the pension field, following the ruling of the Constitutional Court has also been adopted by the Parliament with 323 votes to 24.

The recalculation of judges’ pensions has been removed from the austerity package for which the Government has assumed liability in the Parliament.

The commissions have adopted reports of elimination of items ruled as unconstitutional by the Court from the two laws for which the Government assumed liability.
