Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Romania will open at the end of October a new restaurant in Timisoara, which would represent around €700,000 investment by the fast food chain.
The 36th restaurant in KFC chain will be located in the vicinity of Metropolitan Cathedral. This will be the second restaurant opened by KFC in Timisoara.
The new unit which averages 355square meters will create 40 new jobs. The company expects the restaurant to add €1.5mln to the group’s sales within one calendar year.
Last year, KFC invested around €3.5 million in chain expansion. In 2008, the fast food company opened 8 locations, 3 of them in Bucharest (KFC Beldiman, KFC at the Liberty Shopping Center and KFC at Baneasa Shopping City), and other 5 in Arad, Targu-Mures, Suceava and Craiova and Constanta.
KFC Romania reported in 2008 sales of €40.5 mln, up 25% from a year earlier.
KFC operates in Romania under franchise agreement. The franchisee is US Food Network SA. The first KFC restaurant was opened in 1996.
