The majority of Romanian savers prefer to set up deposits in euro, feared by a sharper devaluation of the local currency, even though their incomes are in lei. However, despite National Bank’s repeated steps to reduce them, the interests paid by banks for euro-denominated savings accounts have remained extremely appealing. Wall-Street lists the five highest interest rates for the classic six-month deposits in euro with interest paid at maturity.
